AMERICAN FLAG

  • ·         The Flag Code states that when a flag has served its useful purpose or is so worn out that it is no longer fit to serve as a symbol of our country, it should be disposed of in a dignified manner.  The Millcreek Township Lobby (3608 West 26th Street) houses a “Retire Your Old Glory” bin for the proper disposal of the American flag.   • ·         Paperback books may be placed into the blue recycle bin.  Hardback books must have the cover removed and placed in the trash, while the pages may be recycled.

CARPET

  • ·         Carpeting that have been professional removed should be disposed of by the installer.
  • ·         Small amounts of carpeting are permitted to be placed curbside with the trash, but must be bound into 4 ft. sections.

  • ·         Small plastic grocery bags are NOT accepted as apart of Millcreek’s curbside recycling program.  These should be disposed of with curbside trash or taken back to participating retailers.

PRESCRIPTION DRUGS

(Prescription Medication, Patches, Prescription Ointments, Prescription Cough Syrup, Over the Counter Medications, Vitamins, Medication Samples, & Pet Medications)

  • ·         Dispose of medications in the MedReturn Box at one of the following participating locations during regular hours of operation.

  • ·         Contact Lowbucs Propane (814-725-1325) for proper disposal.

REFRIGERATOR

SHARPS

  • ·         Place needles inside hard plastic container with sealed lid and tape closed. Place rigid container within trash bag for curbside trash collection.

SMOKE DETECTORS

  • ·         Several manufacturers offer a mail-in recycling program.  Call your smoke detector manufacturer with the make and model for collection opportunities.
  • ·         Due to negligible traces of radioactive material, smoke alarms may be placed with your curbside trash (only 1-2 per bag).  Smoke alarms cannot be collected in bulk and placed out for curbside trash collection.

SWIMMING POOL CHEMICALS

(Pool Acid & Chlorine – Liquid & Tablets)

  • ·         Quarterly billed residential customers may request a special front-door pickup at no charge through Advanced Disposal’s HHW Special Collection Program (1-844-415-5970).
