Retire Your Old Glory
From Flag Day to Independence Day of 2013, Millcreek Township participated in a trial run of the Retire Your Old Glory Campaign. The Campaign stressed the importance of the National Flag Code, which gives specific guidelines on how our national flag should be displayed and how it should be retired when its condition makes it no longer fit for display. During this one-month time period, Millcreek Township collected 531 flags from its residents!
Any flag displayed should be replaced with new ones when it is torn, tattered, or faded, and retired in a dignified and respectful manner. A bin was made available in the Township front lobby and has found a permanent home there thanks to the sponsorship of Printing Concepts! All flags collected in the bin are taken to the American Legion Post #773 and disposed of honorably.
Your “Old Glory” may be returned to the Township Building Mondays-Fridays from 8:00am-4:30pm.
Millcreek Count Since 12-02-14: 1,372 Flags!
