
Millcreek Collects Tons of Waste During Millfair Collection Event

MILLCREEK, PA – Millcreek Township hosted the annual community recycling event at Millfair Compost Center on May 20, 2023. Volunteers collected over 20,000 pounds or 10 tons of tires, paper to shred, appliances, batteries, textiles, scrap metal and more. All the items were disposed of properly.
Of the total weight collected, 8,824 lbs. were paper. This proper disposal saves:
• 13.24 cubic yards of landfill space
The largest amounts of other items collected are:
• 1 box truck of construction and demolition waste
• 7,580 lbs of scrap metal
“We were happy to see the community come through in strong numbers of several hundred people," said Community Relations and Sustainability Director Jessica Stutzman.
Millfair is a joint operation between Millcreek Township and Fairview Township. It is located at 2301 Millfair Road and is open seven days a week. Hours are as follows:
• Monday to Saturday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
• Sunday: 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
