MILLCREEK RESIDENT TO BE HONORED WITH PROCLAMATION FOR SAVING LIFE
For Immediate Release: July 20, 2023
MILLCREEK, PA – Millcreek resident Zachary Coverdale will be honored with an official proclamation at the upcoming Supervisor Meeting on July 25 at 5:30 p.m.
On July 4, Coverdale responded to a crash at Norcross Rd. and Kohler Rd. to find a car sinking into a nearby pond. He acted without hesitation and ran into the pond to save the driver. Coverdale opened the car and pulled the driver out of the vehicle with approximately 18 inches of space left before the car was entirely submerged. The driver suffered injuries during the crash and would not have been able to extract themself.
“Coverdales intervention saved their life and was above and beyond the expectations of citizens that witness an accident. He deserves official recognition and thanks,” said Millcreek Police Chief Mook.
Millcreek Supervisor and Police Liason, Kim Clear, visited with the family. She discussed the event and the aftermath with Coverdale and his mother.
“We are conducting a traffic study of the road and working with PennDOT to investigate safety at the intersection,” said Kim Clear.
Coverdale urged drivers to pay attention to the road and specifically stop looking at their phones while driving. To hear more of the story directly from Coverdale, please watch the video uploaded to Millcreek’s social media, on July 21, and featured on www.millcreektownship.com.
