Millcreek resident Zachary Coverdale has received an official proclamation at the July 25 Supervisor Meeting from the Board of Supervisors.

“You have to just jump right in and help,” said Zachary Coverdale while recounting his story.

On July 4, Coverdale responded to a crash at Norcross Rd. and Kohler Rd. to find a car sinking into a nearby pond. He acted without hesitation and ran into the pond to save the driver. Coverdale opened the car and pulled the driver out of the vehicle with approximately 18 inches of space left before the car was entirely submerged. The driver suffered injuries during the crash and would not have been able to extract themself.

“Coverdale acted with courage and bravery without a second thought,” said Millcreek Police Department Chief Mook, “he deserves this proclamation as a reminder of his heroic actions that day”.

Millcreek Supervisor and Police Liaison, Kim Clear met with the family and discussed the event and doing a traffic study in the area.

“What Zachary did that afternoon was nothing short of heroism. I hope that when the time comes for us to be brave, we all act decisively like he did that day,” said Clear, “Zachary is a shining example of the strength of the Millcreek community.”
