The event was prepared and run by CRS Director Jessica Stutzman. She coordinated the walking routes, passing of supplies, final tally, final submission and more. "It's important to do large volunteer litter cleaning events like this across our township on top of the regular maintenance from our fantastic Parks and Recreation team," said Stutzman.

Internal Coastal Cleanup is a global event with the goal to clear the coasts and waterways of litter in the world. Walnut Creek flows through Bridger Park which drains into Lake Erie. In turn, Lake Erie flows into Lake Ontario via Niagara Falls and after a long ride down the St. Lawrence river the water ends up in the Atlantic Ocean. Every cleanup, even in the smallest waterways, makes an impact in not only the water in the Millcreek community, but countless other communities.

In 2022 ICC cleaned over 2,797 tons of litter globally. This is equivalent to the weight of more than 2.5 cargo ships, six Boeing 747 jets or 300 elephants. Millcreek alone collected nearly 500 pounds of litter from Bridger Park last year.
